SELF GUIDED TOURS

Okefenokee Swamp
 
There are two places to visit at the swamp.  On the east side there is Laura Walker State Park.  This side has guided tours, a walk-way into the swamp, boat tours, different shows and you can see plenty of wildlife.  On the west side of the swamp is Steven Foster State Park where you can see the dam and the headwaters of the Swanee River.  This is for the campers and fishermen.

Laura Walker State Park
Approximately 80 miles.  From the campground, go south on HWY. #82.  Go east to Waycross.  In Waycross go south on US #1 eight miles to the entrance, which will be on your right.

Steven Foster State Park
Approximately 100 miles.  From the campgrounds, go south on HWY #129 to HWY #82.  Go east to Pearson, GA.  In Pearson take HWY #441 South.  Go to Fargo, GA and cross the Swanee River.  Just south of the river, the entrance will be on your left.

Chehaw Park and Zoo
Located in Albany, Georgia.  From the campgrounds go south on HWY #129 to Ocilla.  In Ocilla go south on HWY #319 to Tifton.  In Tifton take HWY #82 West to Albany.  In Albany take HWY #19 (Liberty By-Pass) around to Jefferson Street / HWY #91.  Go north until you come to the Park entrance on your left.

Agrirama
The living history museum of the agricultural community in the early 1800's is located in Tifton, GA.  From the campgrounds go right to HWY #125 (at the dead-end). Stay on HWY #125 until you get to a caution light.  At the light go right for one mile to Interstate 75.  Go south to exit 63B, at the exit turn right and go 1/2 mile to the entrance.

Andersonville Confederate Prison
Approximately 90 miles.  From the campgrounds go right to HWY #125. Take HWY #125 south.  Hwy #32 comes to HWY #125.  Watch the signs and keep on HWY # 32 until you get to Interstate 75. Go north on I-75 to exit #101, get on HWY #280 and go west until you see HWY #195 in Desoto.  Go north on HWY #195 until the road ends at the juncture of HWY #49. Go north on HWY #49 to the Park.  The Cemetery and Park are on the right and the town itself is on the left.
